Provides free learning resources for parents of children up to age 5. They hand out an early literacy kit, full of fun learning tools, and the program is offered at several locations throughout the Columbus area.

Nationwide Children’s Hospital Reach Out & Read
Reach out and Read is a pediatric literacy program dedicated to encouraging family literacy activities in the home prior to a child’s entrance into the school system so that children grow up with books and a love of reading.

Dominican Learning Center
Provides one-to-one tutoring to help adults 18 years and older in reading, writing, speaking, listening, mathematics, and basic computer use as well as GED preparation and learning English as a Second Language (ESL). Students are not charged for tutorial services, but those who are financially able are asked to purchase basic texts and materials.

Franklinton Learning Center
Offers basic literacy and education classes for youth and adults. More than 150 adult students participate in a variety of literacy enhancement classes at the Learning Center each year, with over 50 earning GED diplomas.

Godman Guild GED / ABLE Program
Provides free resources, support and life skills training to help adult students balance work and family while pursuing their education. Childcare (children ages 6 weeks to 12 years) is available while students are in class except for morning classes. Transportation is also available for students who live in the Godman Guild service area except for morning classes.

Next Chapter Book Club
People with intellectual disabilities and a wide range of reading skills meet with trained volunteers to read aloud and discuss a book each week. The program was started by The Ohio State University Nisonger Center and now exists throughout Ohio and the United States. The reading groups are open to adolescents and adults of all ages, and the goal is to improve literacy and promote friendships among people with disabilities.

Ohio Literacy Network
Provides access to free learning tools on television, through the internet, at home and in the local community for Ohioans of every age and skill level. Their GED Connection project helps people prepare for the GED exam at home on their own time. They can also help improve workplace skills and connect people with employment assistance agencies.
