New York City Literacy Programs
The Department of Youth and Community Development coordinates the city's literacy services.
  • Adolescent Literacy Program - After school program for students in grades 6 and 7, designed to strengthen reading, writing, and communication skills.

  • Adult Literacy Program - Helps adults acquire reading and writing skills.

  • English Language Program - For those who speak little or no English.

  • Family Literacy Program - Offers parents and their school-aged children the opportunity to work together on developing their reading, writing, and English-language skills.
