The Community Health Improvement department of WellSpan Health has implemented the Growing Healthy initiative, a coordinated approach to preventing childhood overweight in four areas - communities, early childhood centers, the healthcare community, and school. Health education and promotion programming is available in all four areas. In addition, Community Health Improvement assists individuals and families with obtaining public health insurance and discount health service programs, including CHIP, Medical Assistance, and Healthy York Network.
