{"id":109523,"date":"2019-08-06T17:33:20","date_gmt":"2019-08-06T17:33:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cap4kids.org\/newyorkcity\/?p=109523"},"modified":"2024-11-18T02:24:25","modified_gmt":"2024-11-18T02:24:25","slug":"unemployment-insurance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cap4kids.org\/newyorkcity\/unemployment-insurance\/","title":{"rendered":"Unemployment Insurance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h6>Unemployment insurance (UI) gives temporary income to workers who lose their jobs through no fault of their own, such as being laid off instead of being fired for bad behavior, or having quit on their own for reasons that were not the employer&#8217;s fault. <\/h6>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To apply for UI, create a NY.GOV account at <a href=\"https:\/\/apps.labor.ny.gov\/IndividualReg\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">labor.ny.gov\/signin<\/a> and hit the button <strong>&#8220;Create an NY.GOV account.&#8221;<\/strong>\u00a0If you already have an account, do not create a new one.<\/li>\n<li>Get ready your social security number, ID (Driver\u2019s License or Motor Vehicle ID number, Alien Registration Card Number), phone number, address, bank account number or routing number.<\/li>\n<li>Collect the names, addresses, phone numbers of all employers for the last 18 months and wage details.<\/li>\n<li>Submit the required information and documentation on the Department of Labor website.<\/li>\n<li>Once a claim is filed, it takes three to six weeks to receive your first payment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\nYou are eligible to earn weekly UI payments for up to 26 weeks per year.
