\nDue to the COVID-19 pandemic, families of children eligible for free or reduced-price lunch in NYC’s in public schools and private schools are eligible for Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT) food benefits.<\/a><\/strong> The total benefit amount is $420 for each eligible child.
\n 
\nThis payment represents the value of school meals for the period of time from March when the schools closed until the end of the school year on June 26th.
\n 
\nHow to Get the Benefit<\/strong>
\n-Children who receive free school lunches through the National School Lunch Program<\/strong> are eligible for P-EBT food benefits<\/strong> if their school has been operating with reduced in-person attendance due to COVID-19 during the 2020-21 school year
\n-Payments will be issued for each eligible school-aged child between the ages of 5 to 18<\/strong> living in the household. The New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance<\/strong> is issuing these payments
\n–You do not (and cannot) apply for P-EBT food benefits<\/strong>
\n-Eligible children currently receiving SNAP<\/strong> or Temporary Assistance (cash)<\/strong> will have their P- EBT food benefits<\/strong> issued to their household\u2019s EBT card.
\n-Eligible children who are currently enrolled in Medicaid<\/strong> and successfully accessed and redeemed their P-EBT food benefits for the 2019-20 school year on a NYS Medicaid card<\/strong> will receive their P-EBT food benefits for the 2020-21 school year on the same NYS Medicaid card.
\n-Eligible children who successfully accessed their food benefits for the 2019-20 school year on a P-EBT Food Benefit card will receive their food benefits for the 2020-21 school year on the same P-EBT Food Benefit card<\/strong>.
\n-All other eligible children will be mailed a P-EBT Food Benefit card<\/strong> with instructions explaining how to activate the card and access the food benefits.
