Summer Safety 2026(CAP4Kids.Org/Columbus/Summer-Safety)

An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect for Franklin County from until 8PM on Thursday, July 2. Residents are encouraged to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, limit outdoor activity and stay out of the sun, and check on relatives and neighbors. Do not leave young children or pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.

Columbus Recreation & Parks
Dodge, Driving Park, Glenwood, Linden, and Marion Franklin Community Centers will be open for extended hours as cooling stations, from 8AM-8PM. Spraygrounds at Blackburn, Barnett, Linden, and Scioto Southland will also be open for extended hours, from 12-8PM.
