Housing for People with Disabilities

Alpha Group

Provides vocational and supportive services for individuals with disabilities. Services are available in Ashland, Crawford, Delaware, Franklin, Huron, Knox, Licking, Marion, Morrow, Richland, Union, Wayne, and Wyandot counties. Workforce development services include vocational habilitation, job coaching, and additional employment supports. Employment supports for high schoolers include Project SEARCH, summer youth employment, and pre-employment transition services. They also offer integrate adult day services, supportive living, and community living. Transportation services are available for non-medical trips originating in Delaware county for a fee.

Alvis

Offers supportive services to adults and families involved in the criminal justice system. Referrals are required to receive services. Call for details.

  • Reentry Services: Helps people transitioning from the corrections system back into the community. Services include cognitive-behavioral treatment (CBT) at their residential reentry center, alcohol and drug addiction treatment, workforce development, case management, mentoring, housing assistance, and links to community services and support. Includes Amethyst program for women with children overcoming drug or alcohol dependance.
  • Behavioral Healthcare: Offers traditional and intensive outpatient therapy and psychiatry, substance abuse treatment, job readiness, and trauma treatment.
  • Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities Services: Includes residential care, behavioral intervention, vocational/job readiness skills training and supported living.
  • Family & Children’s Program: Supports children whose parents are justice-system-involved or suffering from substance abuse. Offers parenting programs, developmental assessments, critical needs free pantry, clinical services for children, and reunification activities.

Creative Housing

Provides accessible and affordable housing for people with disabilities in the Columbus area. People served by the Franklin County Board of Developmental Disabilities should contact their service coordinator regarding housing waiting list information. They also provide accessible renovation and construction services through their program Creative Renovations.

Private service provider offering in-home services, foster care for youth or adults with complex needs, day services, shared living services, and residential care. Goodwill Columbus

Goodwill Stores sell thrift clothing, furniture, art, and more to support their community programs. They offer free job training programs for adults in Franklin County. Job training programs include personalized one-on-one coaching, credentialing, and job placement. Program pathways include CNA, medical coding/billing, Information Technology (IT), and solar installation. Achieve More & Prosper (AMP) provides job assistance for income-eligible, out-of-school young adults ages 18-24. Hattie Larlham Central Ohio Services

Serves: Children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Central and Northeast Ohio.
Provides a range of support, residential, medical, recreational, and educational opportunities for individuals with disabilities. Community services include adult day support services and recreational opportunities on evenings and weekends. Residential services include short-term respite care for children and adults, long-term residential care for children and adults, supported living homes for adults, and shared living/adult foster care.

Learning Never Ends and Upreach

Serves: Adults with developmental disabilities, including Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Multiple Sclerosis, Prader Willi, Seizure disorder, Spina Bifida, and TBI.
Provides support services for adults with developmental disabilities. Learning Never Ends provides day habilitation programs at multiple locations in Central Ohio. Services include social skill development, non-medical transportation, behavioral plans, job coaching, and community inclusion opportunities. Upreach provides supported living and residential services with nursing services, recreational opportunities, and benefit attainment assistance. They accept Medicaid and Waiver coverage.
