Asian American Community Services (AACS)

Supports Asian American and Asian immigrant communities in Ohio. They focus on East, Southeast, South Asian and Pacific Islander communities but assist individuals regardless of ethnic or racial background. Healthy Asian Youth (HAY) provides after-school and summer programming for low-income families. They offer free or low-cost classes for adults for ESL, Citizenship, and cultural arts. They also offer a Family Support Program for victims of crime, Senior citizen outreach, and interpreting and translation services. The Asian Health Initiative (AHI) provides free, culturally and linguistically appropriate services and health screenings for those living under 250% of the Federal Poverty Level.

Center for Healthy Families

Serves pregnant and parenting youth ages 12-24 years old in Franklin County. Services include school-based support groups, community-based one-to-one services, and referrals to community resources. Home-visiting services are available for parents who are pregnant or have a child up to age 3. The program helps pregnant and parenting teens access healthcare, reach education goals, delay subsequent pregnancy, maintain access to safe housing, and develop parenting skills. They also house the Black Girls and Young Women’s Collective to advocate for equity and community. Complete the referral form on the website to refer yourself or someone else for services.

Columbus Medical Association Foundation

Empowers physicians and community members to improve the health of the Columbus community. Programs for youth include: Made for Medicine for African American and Black youth grades 6-12 to explore careers in medicine, and The Youth Advisory Council for grades 8-12 in Central Ohio schools interested in volunteering and public health. Healthcare professionals can get involved with Physicians Care Connection, Central Ohio Trauma System (COTS), and Physicians Leadership Academy. National Center on Health Physical Activity & Disability (NCHPAD)

A resource for information on physical activity, health promotion, and disability; serving persons with physical, sensory and cognitive disability across the lifespan. Their website has helpful information on disability and aging, adaptive physical activity, and inclusive guidance for community health organizations. They also have a state-by-state directory of accessible parks, adaptive equipment suppliers, and physical activity programs for people with disabilities. National Kidney Foundation (NKF) of Central Ohio

Serves those who have been, or know someone that is, diagnosed with kidney disease. They provide educational materials and resources on the website about kidney disease, treatment options, transplantations, and up-to-date information for professionals. The National Museum of African American History and Culture is the only national museum devoted exclusively to the documentation of African American life, history, and culture. The only viable urban Indian center in Ohio. They preserve and restore balance in the lives of Native Americans through cultural preservation and restoration, social development, and economic sustainability.
